MaconThon℠ is a three-month intensive community that brings together tech-curious creative influencers, social innovators, and thought leaders of color in the Middle Georgia area, who are deeply motivated to resolve a range of social and economic challenges affecting the city we love through the development of cutting-edge technologies and entrepreneurial innovation.

Who We're Looking For

Whether you are a creative, skilled professional, academic, or something in between, your experience and insights can contribute to the vision of a well-connected and economically thriving city. Your day job, no matter what it is, can help you bring a unique perspective to the program.

At MaconThon℠ we believe that Disruptors do things differently in their desire to make change. We're looking for people who want to shake shake up the status quo and prevent things from continuing in their usual manner.

Our program welcomes and supports idea-stage work with the potential to scale. Sure, we don’t expect you to be an expert, but this isn’t you just taking a stab at it. We expect you and your team to take seriously the potential impact your solution will have on those closest to your issue. This means that you may learn that your solution doesn’t work as intended, and if needed you’re willing to pivot.

Applicants understand that their role as Community Champions requires that they do more than think outside of the box; they understand that solution-finding requires a willingness to challenge the status quo and question traditionalism in approach. If you challenge assumptions, embrace alternate lines of thinking, and believe that power can be both shifted and created, MaconThon needs you.

MaconThon℠ Applicants Are:

Movement builders and thought-leaders in the Macon - Middle Georgia area with a focus on or demonstrable interest in building solutions that influence how we live, work and play.
Bold, disruptive thinkers (You’ll hear the word disruption and variations of it quite a bit in your time with us).
In possession of a clear, non-surface-level understanding of the community/communities most impacted by the challenge you are solving.
Committed to this work and are focused on the end result.

The Fine Print

Application Requirements

MaconThon is a team effort. However, we welcome and encourage individuals to apply.

If you are applying

All team members must be over the age of 18.
Teams should consist of no more than (5) people.
At a minimum, each team must consist of the following roles: (1)Deadline Dynamo, (2)Visual Virtuoso, (3)Tech Maestro. Additional members will take on the role of Innovation Catalysts.
Teams exceeding (3) members should provide an explanation as to how the additional member(s) will be essential in the development of a disruptive solution and serve as power player(s) in your build.

Applicants are required to form or join a team of up to 5 members to support their work
Each member of the team will have a designated project-specific role
Attendance and participation in twice a month huddles, mandatory office hours, 1:1 coaching sessions, and Demo Day
Completion of activities assigned ahead of sessions and preparedness for coaching sessions.
Unwavering commitment to harnessing your unique abilities and skills
We advance civic innovation and social entrepreneurship, but an authentic and nurturing community is who we are. We expect to be held to this standard by our participants and supporters.
